Virginia Veterinary Specialists COVID-19 Public Safety Protocol:
Due to concerns about the Novel Coronavirus and related disease (COVID-19), Virginia Veterinary Specialists is taking additional precautionary measures within the hospital to keep our staff, doctors, patients, and clients safe, while continuing to provide essential patient care. As of Monday, March 16th, we are going to adopt a drop off policy as a precautionary measure, which will only allow hospital personnel inside our building.
Upon arrival to our facility, we ask that clients call our office, 434-202-2987 and remain in their vehicles, they will be connected with a clinical staff member who will obtain history and important information needed to proceed with medical treatment. They will then bring pets into the hospital to be evaluated by our specialists in a timely manner, again, we ask that clients remain in their vehicle and in our parking lot. After their pet enters the building our reception staff will call them back to discuss wait times, payment arrangements, and discharge protocols. In some cases, we may ask clients to remain in the parking lot until the appointment is complete.
Clients will be contacted by specialists via telephone after they have evaluated patients. All discharge information will be given by clinical staff via telephone or email. Once the phone discharges are complete, payments will be taken over the phone and a clinical staff member will return patients to client vehicles with any necessary medications.
Request for prescription refills, retail items, and pet diets will be handled in a similar manner. We ask that you remain in your vehicle and call our office letting us know that you have arrived. We will take payment over the phone and then bring the items directly to client vehicles.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and we thank you for your patients during this temporary change in protocol.
