Veterinary Oncology

Veterinary Oncology

Oncology is a sub-specialty of internal medicine that is dedicated to treating patients with cancer. Studies have suggested that approximately 1 in 4 dogs and 1 in 5 cats will develop cancer within their lifetimes. Advances in diagnostic and treatment capabilities have allowed for a more individualized approach to veterinary cancer care, leading to more successful outcomes.

The oncology department at Virginia Veterinary Specialists consists of a board-certified medical oncologist (Dr. Courtney Mallett) and a team of experienced and compassionate nurses. Our goal is to lengthen and preserve quality of life for dogs and cats with cancer, and our state-of-the-art USP 800 compliant oncology suite has been optimized for the safety and comfort of our patients.

Services offered:

  • Comprehensive consultation and examination
  • Diagnostic tests for cancer staging and monitoring
  • Follow-up and recheck exams
